Summer Holiday
I am just back from a very enjoyable and thoroughly relaxing holiday. I spent a week in Strandhill, Co. Sligo with my fiancee.
During the holiday, we dined in the restaurants and bars of Strandhill and Sligo town. On Monday, we spent time pottering around the shops in Sligo town and stopped for a spot of lunch in the Johnston Court shopping mall. On Tuesday, we drove to Parkes Castle, which we explored, and took a boat trip on Lough Gill to see Beezies island and the Lake Isle of Inishfree which was made famous by W.B. Yeats. We embarked upon sightseeing, swimming, paddling, and a bite of lunch in Mullaghmore on Wednesday. We climbed Knocknarea on Thursday to take in the views of Sligo and Ballisodare bays, Lough Gill, and Queen Maeve’s Cairn.
The scenery in Sligo is truly spectacular and it is easy to understand the reason W.B. Yeats referred to it as the land of heart’s desire.
